When disaster strikes, having safe and accessible shelters ready to open makes all the difference. During the August 2025 floods, emergency shelters across Milwaukee County played a crucial role in protecting residents and helping families begin to recover.

As we head into storm season, the American Red Cross and local partners are working together to expand our network of potential shelter locations—and we need your help.

We’re asking schools, community centers, faith-based organizations, and other large facilities throughout Milwaukee and neighboring communities to consider becoming shelter partners. Your facility could provide warmth, safety, and stability when it matters most.

By joining this all-hands-on-deck effort, you’ll help ensure our region remains safe, connected, and ready before the next emergency.
