Wednesday, September 16, 2026 | Waukesha, WI | In Person
How do government agencies, nonprofits, community organizations, and the private sector work together during an emergency?
This introductory National Incident Management System (NIMS) course provides a foundational understanding of the common structures, terminology, and coordination principles used to bring organizations together before, during, and after disasters.
NIMS is a whole-community approach designed to help all levels of government, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), and the private sector work together to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from incidents.
Why It May Be Useful for COAD Partners
NIMS isn’t just for emergency management and public safety. For nonprofits, faith-based organizations, human services agencies, volunteer organizations, and other community partners, understanding NIMS can provide valuable context for how disaster coordination works and where community organizations fit within the larger response structure.
